Why it was give away.
The Triton IV was my first Ten Tec rig. Up to that time I had been using a TS-830s and thought that there was nothing better or smoother. A long time friend who also ran 830s and Drakes had made the switch to Ten Tec and it was because of him that I began my moving towards the Ten Tec brand gear.

This Triton was purchased from a contact made via eHam and arrived in wonderful condition both cosmetically and operationally. It was the first rig I had ever used that had a CW filter smaller than 500hz and the receiver was awesome. Also, although I had worked QSK many years ago with my HT-44/SX-100 and a Johnson TR switch, the QSK on the Triton was unbelievable.

After the first QSO I was hooked on Ten Tec gear and have since owned a number of different classic Ten Tecs and will be a Ten Tec only Ham tell the end.

As I got other classic Ten Tec gear the Triton IV took a back seat and the time came that I felt the need to pass it along to a great friend and club member here. I think it was his first HF rig and although he now has a newer one I believe it got him going on HF. And, to me that was a great way to get introduced and started on the low bands.
